Applicant overview: In 1972 Les Milner founded 'The Boot' night shelter, opening up the St Basil's church hall area as a basic shelter. The area could sleep eighteen young men in dormitory style beds. This work established St Basil's as a youth homeless shelter. The Centre's work expanded with the employment of youth workers and the rental of additional properties. Nature of support: In 1982 the Southfield Trust recommended three annual grants of £710 towards office rent for two court workers.
