Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Southfield Trust. Applicant overview: This file relates primarily to Adullam Homes and Sandwell Homeless and Resettlement Project (SHRP). Walter Moore founded Adullam Homes in the Birmingham area in 1972. Working with the local Probation Service, Moore established the first few houses in Birmingham, buying them with his own money and working largely on his own. Over the next thirteen years, three other independent organisations were developed at Winsford, Liverpool and Stockport. Together, these provided 100 bed spaces. In 1985, the four separate organisations merged to form a single housing association. Adullam works with the most vulnerable people in society today and offers hope and dignity through quality housing and support to people. SHRP became a registered charity in 1983. SHRP aims to care for persons in need, who are homeless or who by reason of adverse circumstance are in need of help in acquitting a settled way of life through the establishment of residential accommodation and to assist these persons so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities that they may develop full maturity as responsible individuals and members of society. Nature of support: In 1984 on the advice of Southfield Trustees the Trust made a grant of £1,000 to Adullam Homes. In 1985 a bridging grant was made of £3,500 to cover the months of August 1985 to October 1985 to SHRP. Three annual grants of £3,000 were also approved in 1985 to Adullam Homes.
