Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: HALOW was created in 1986 with the objects of relieving need, distress and hardship, and to advance education and training among the wives, children and other dependents of persons who are suffering or have suffered a legal restriction on their liberty in any penal or correctional establishment, particularly by the provision of legal and general advice. HALOW provides an advice line, provides counsellors to escort clients to trials all over the country, assists with transport and fuel bills and helps with liaison with statutory services. Nature of support: In 1992 a one-off payment was made to HALOW of £5,000. Home Office funding later made this grant superfluous. Minutes: B&GSCT 7557, B&GSCT 7569.
