Nelson of the City of Birmingham College of Commerce proposed a joint socio-religious project involving his institution and the University of Birmingham. The project will consist of a survey of households carried out in Dawley to quantify a number of characteristics including social class, occupation, gender, religious beliefs and available religious facilities. The strategic aim of the project is to study the effects of membership of religious group on the relationships between people of different racial and ethnic origins who live in racially mixed neighbourhoods.
