Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: In 1969 Senior Lecturer in Sociology Dr. G.K. Nelson of the City of Birmingham College of Commerce proposed a joint socio-religious project involving his institution and the University of Birmingham. The project will consist of a survey of households carried out in Dawley to quantify a number of characteristics including social class, occupation, gender, religious beliefs and available religious facilities. The strategic aim of the project is to study the effects of membership of religious group on the relationships between people of different racial and ethnic origins who live in racially mixed neighbourhoods. Nature of support: The Fund approved an initial grant of £300 followed by another £310 in 1969. In 1971 the Trust agreed to a single grant of £800. Minutes: B&GSCT 3443, BCF 868, BCF 898.
