Applicant overview: The Birmingham Bicycling Campaign is a collaborative academic research project launched to investigate the provision of safe, useful and effective cycling facilities at an appropriate cost. The aim will be to create a manual to provide guidance to local authorities in response to government consultation on future transport policy. Nature of support: The Paul S. Cadbury Trust provided £2,500 for the first academic year of the project with similar amounts payable in the second year and third year, subject to sufficient progress being made. Birmingham Friends of the Earth's cycling arm 'Pushbikes' requested further funding to employ the researcher as a consultant but this request was turned down by both trusts.
