Applicant overview: The IDI was formed by members of the London Technical Group, the Disaster Research Unit of Bradford University and the Disasters and Settlements Study Centre at Oxford Polytechnic. The objective of the IDI is to lessen the human impact of future disasters by three main methods: 1) initiating, promoting and conducting research, 2) providing consultancy services for field evaluations, and 3) providing an information and educational service for relief workers and agencies. Nature of support: In 1975 the Trust approved three annual grants of £5,400 plus a single grant of £3,500 in 1977. A single grant of £500 was made in 1978 towards interim staff costs.
