Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd., Paul S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: Roapp Hall was established as a voluntary trust before becoming a registered charity in 1986. The Hall grew out of an initiative from a local group of men who had been made redundant called the Darlaston Redundancy Action Group. The Hall aims to help the unemployed in a number of ways including offering advice on anything from social security benefits and housing to filling in application forms, writing CVs and preparing for job interviews. The Hall also operates a non-profit snack bar. Nature of support: In 1985 the Trust approved a grant of up to £5,000 towards the purchase of property adjacent to the Hall and up to £5,000 per annum for three years towards general running costs. Pending an application for charitable status the initial payments were made through the Fund. In 1986 the grant was transferred to the Paul S. Cadbury Trust. In 1989 the unpaid remainder of the total was rescinded. Minutes: B&GSCT 6147A, BCF 2511, PSCT 468. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File numbered 'EA/7/74'. |
