Applicant overview: In 1975 the Trust agreed to support the establishment of a resource centre to provide a range of support services to various community groups. The aims of the Centre are to support the wider struggle for economic, political and social equality through the provision of specific services to the community. These include a comprehensive information service, administrative services, help with communication techniques, advisory services, co-ordinating activities, training and acting as a liaison or agent for other groups. In 1982 the Coventry Resource and Information Centre became a limited company called the Coventry Resource and Information Service Ltd. with similarly defined objectives. A report issued that same year defined the four primary functions of the CRISL as, 1) direct assistance and support to other groups, 2) advice services, 3) equipment, information, materials and skills resources, and 4) education and teaching. The CRISL was originally established at the Coventry Resource Centre (CRC). Nature of support: In 1984 the Trust increased support got £8,000 per annum for three years plus an additional single grant of £2,000 for the purchase of equipment through Coventry Workshop.
