Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: In 1987 a proposal was submitted to the Voluntary Services Unit by the Federation of Charities Advice Services (FCAS) and the West Yorkshire Charities Information Bureau (WYCIB) to establish a new national database of charitable grant makers. The project involves research into the policies and practises of over five hundred charitable trusts, primarily those that, 1) make grants to voluntary sector projects, and 2) respond to applications from voluntary bodies. A classification scheme will allow for improved computer database searching. This information will also be published in book form. This project became VOLNET.
