LevelFile
Date1982 - 1986
DescriptionGrant files containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, payments summary, copies of published material, accounts, project proposals and funding requests relating to the West Midlands Arts Ethnic Instruments Challenge Grant Scheme (EICGS) administered by the Minority Arts Programme. Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Minority Arts Programme. Applicant overview: A review by West Midlands Arts of ethnic minority music in the West Midlands undertaken in 1980 recommended that research be instituted into the feasibility of establishing a basic non-Western instruments hire scheme. This approach was found not to be workable and instead it was proposed to support performance groups with tuition for non-Western instruments instead. A grant scheme was created with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust administered by the Minority Arts Programme. Nature of support: The Trust agreed to allocate £2,500 per annum for the financial years 1982/1983, 1983/1984, 1984/1985 and 1985/1986 at which point the scheme was wound up. Minutes: B&GSCT 5633, B&GSCT 6174, MAP 79/82, MAP 40/83, MAP 45/83, MAP 2/84, MAP 27/85, MAP 51/85. Notes: File 'a' contains Trust minutes and agendas plus related material, file 'b' contains EICGS minutes, accounts and other collaborative/strategic material relating to the running of the scheme. Files organised from newest to oldest. Files numbered 'EA/9/2(38)'.
