Applicant overview: WMEMAS, formerly the Regional Ethnic Arts Advisory Service, was proposed in 1980 to establish a regional body in the West Midlands to provide liaison and advice to ethnic minority arts organisations, promote these activities and offer training based on the skills of affiliated groups. Nature of support: In 1981 the Trust approved two annual grants of £2,500 to WMEMAS on the recommendation of Minority Arts Programme Trustees. This grant was used to support the salary of a regional ethnic arts advisor. In 1983 an application to support the salary costs of a second worker was denied though the second annual payment for the advisor was increased to £3,500.
