Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Minority Arts Programme. Applicant overview: The South Aston Residents Association became the South Aston Community Project Ltd. in 1983. The organisation exists to provide for the social welfare and recreation needs of the Aston community as well as to advance education and training for its constituents. This includes the provision of arts projects for the community. Nature of support: In 1981 Minority Arts Programme Trustees declined to support a community photography project due to uncertain local government support. In 1982 the Trust approved a grant of £955 towards the outstanding costs of a play centre. In 1983 the Minority Arts Programme recommended a grant of £200 towards the cost of amplifiers and speakers for the youth club band.
