DescriptionThis set of papers concerns Lucas Industries Ltd and includes:

/1 'Diary of Betrayal: an account of events and correspondence asince 1974' by the Lucas Aerospace Combine Shop Stewards Committee - photocopy [1979]. This concerns the reception given by Lucas management and government ministers to the the Combine's Corporate Plan, which proposed alternative production plans for 'socially useful' products.

/2 'The CSEU - Friend or Foe?' by the Lucas Aerospace Combine Shop Stewards Committee [1979]. This considers the impact of involving the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions [CSEU] in negotiations over Lucas management's plans for redundancies.

/3 'Lucas Aerospace - Industrial Ballscrews' by Lucas Aerospace Confederation Trade Union Committee [1979]. This considers issues at Lucas Ballscrews at Hemel Hemstead [originally Rotax].

/4 'Lucas Chairman's Review to Shareholders and Employees' [1979]. This includes a photograph of the memorial stone erected on the site of the original Lucas factory in Great King Street.

/5 'Lucas Industries Ltd 82nd Report and Accounts' [1979].

/6 The envelope in which items 1 - 5 were received in the City Archives is retained for reference purposes.

/7 Also included with this deposit but not in the envelope is a letter to Charles Parker dated 14th February 1980. Ron Morris enclosed a sheet of lyrics for 'The Designing Designer', this song having been discussed at their recent meeting at Lucas' Great King Street premises.
