| AdminHistory | 'The Red Megaphone' was a retrospective festival celebrating the life and work of Ewan MacColl. It was held at the Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham in November 1990. The festival was initiated and co-ordinated by Banner Theatre and produced in consultation with Pam Bishop of the Political Song Network, Philip Donnellan of the Charles Parker Archive Trust and Robert Leach of the University of Birmingham's Department of Drama. Performances and workshops paid tribute to MacColl's multi-faceted career and also considered how his political and cultural vision continued. A range of media were deployed, including Film, Song, Theatre, Dance, Music, Documentary, Radio and Television. |
