TitleResidency Proposal Form and Supporting Papers
LevelFile
Date1997 - 2000
DescriptionThe Residency Proposal Form appears to be a mock-up for the version actually submitted to YOTA [c/o West Midlands Arts] for a residency based at Aston and Handsworth Fire Stations. It is dated 03/12/1999 but the signature has been obliterated. Typed text has been pasted into the relevant sections on the form. This application provides an insight to the intended scope and outcomes of the residency, its target audience and projected costs. It also indicates that Banner's vision for the project was greater than that finally achieved. Four regional residency proposals with fire fighters were to be submitted, of which only three finally materialised [Essex, North West and West Midlands]. Of these, Essex replaced an original bid to London and a proposed residency in the East Midlands [which focused on disability] did not proceed.

There is also a photocopied version of this residency proposal form, with copies of additional supporting evidence submitted by Banner Theatre.

Accompanying this residency proposal is a copy letter of support from the FBU [Number 7 Region - West Midlands] to YOTA. Three FBU publications are also included in the file, which presumably provided both supporting information for the application and also assisted research once the residency got underway. These booklets are
'All Different, All Equal' nd
'Fairness at Work: education pack' nd
'Bullying at Work: how to tackle it' 1997.
A report by the FBU [West Midlands] Education Officer is also included: 'Observational Report on the Joint Fairness at Work School at Wortley Hall [South Yorkshire] on 02/11/1997'.

Three sheets of handwritten notes are included in this file, dealing with sexism and racism.

The file also contains a notice for the BBC 'Music Live' event 2000 and a blank evaluation questionnaire issued by Birmingham City Council. This related to grants of arts and community programmes in 2000 / 2001. An annotated printout from the CARF website [Campaign against Racism and Fascism] is also included. Printed on 28/05/2000, it is entitled 'Stop this bogus tabloid nationalism'.
