AdminHistory'Womankind' was the first production by Banner Theatre's Women's Project and was developed to mark International Women's Year in 1975. It was a musical documentary which utilised the mumming play as a basis. Such plays had a long tradition in folk drama, with the central element being the death and resurrection of the production's main figure. Banner deployed this technique to demonstrate the resilience of the female spirit in the face of adversity.
