DescriptionThe pages at the front and back of this volume have notes on its ownership and on family genealogy, written by various members of the family. These notes indicate that the bible belonged to Ann Carless, died 30 September 1797. It was then given to Mark Noble, her great - nephew who had lived with her at Tennal Hall, Harborne. In 1799 he gave the bible to his sister Martha Carless Noble who, after her marriage, as Mrs Syms, took it to India with her. At the sale of the books of the Revd. Mark Noble, it was purchased by his niece Mrs Farmer who then gave it to Anna Maria Carless. On her death in April 1861, it was bequeathed to Algernon Attwood, who died in August 1861. His widow, Emma Attwood (nee Foulkes), then left the volume, on her death in 1878, for her son Lewellyn Carless Foulkes Attwood. The volume then came into the possession of the Wakefield family.
