DescriptionThese comprise plans, valuations, rentals and other accounts and correspondence associated with John Howard Galton's ownership of the Hadzor estate. They include: rentals for Hadzor estate and parts of the Oddingley estate for the half year to October 1828, containing the names of individual tenants, the names of the farms they held and details about the amount of rent charged; undated rental of Lord Somer's property in Droitwich containing similar information; valuation of lands in St Peter, Droitwich and Hadzor, belonging to Lord Somers and proposed to be given in exchange to John Howard Galton, dated May 1846; 1853 valuation of estates in Dodderhill and St Peters Droitwich containing traced plans and maps of fields; letter to Isabella Galton from Birmingham Banking Company dated 26 Dec 1844 concerning John Howard Galton's overdrawn account; statement of John Howard Galton's mortgages, dated Dec 1850; copy of marriage settlement between Theodore Howard Galton and Frances Amelia Arthur 1853 which contains clauses relating to the title of Theodore Howard Galton to the manor of Himbleton; undated traced incomplete map of the parish of Himbleton. This bundle also includes a printed notice of sale of freehold lands in the parish of Corfe Mullen, Dorset, sold to Samuel Galton in 1809. It contains a coloured map of the lands to be sold, and conditions of sale. This has no apparent connection with the other material in the bundle, but may have passed from Samuel Galton to John Howard Galton, his son. See MS3101/A/D/12/1 for further material relating to Corfe Mullen
