| Description | This material consists of papers of the solicitors Wainwright and Smith relating to proceedings in Chancery against Richard Holmden Amphlett brought by the Attorney General, and papers of Henry Bearcroft, solicitor at Droitwich, relating to Amphlett's title to property at Wrednall. The Chancery proceedings concern the obligations of Amphlett as owner of the Hadzor estate to pay rent to Lewknor's hospital at Alvechurch and the papers include an order to dimiss the bill for want of prosecution, dated Jan 1823. The papers drawn up by Henry Bearcroft include an abstract of Amphlett's title to the property at Wrednall, which obliges him to pay a yearly rent to Lewknor's hospital, a copy of Nicholas Lewknor's will, dated 1580 which includes provision for the establishment of almshouses at Alvechurch, and copies of the reporst of the Charity Commissioners with regard to Lewknor's Hospital. This file also includes a document addressed to H. G. H. Galton and dated 1882 which refers to the cost of repairs to the hospital. |
