| Description | This material largely consists of copies of deeds and abstracts of title made during the early nineteenth century which give evidence of the extent of property that the Foley family held in Worcestershire and surrounding counties. The majority of these papers deal with property that was mortgaged by members of the Foley family during the early nineteenth century. Although the Witley estate itself remained in the Foley family, the manor of Oddingley, which was sold to John Howard Galton, possibly in the 1820s, and it is likely that these abstracts and copies of deeds were drawn up for him to provide information about the tenurial history of the property at Oddingley which had followed the same descent as the main Witley estate. There are some connections between this material and papers at MS3101/A/B/5 relating to Oddingley. |
