| Description | The majority of the deeds and papers in this section relate to estates purchased by John Howard Galton in the Droitwich area, specifically Hadzor and Oddingley. Copies of deeds and papers relating to the tenurial history of the Witley estate represented here are likely to have been drawn up in the process of administering his purchase of the manor of Oddingley. Papers relating to the borough of Droitwich may also have come into his possession as a result of one of his purchases. There are also a large amount of deeds and papers relating to the Warley estate which was acquired by Samuel Galton and inherited by his son Hubert John Barclay Galton. This section also includes some material relating to property at Bromsgrove and Stoke Prior which was in the possession of the Farmer and Abrahams families, and to premises at Belbroughton used by the firm Farmer & Galton for iron and steel working. |
