| Description | The deeds and papers in this section relate either to properties that came into the possession of Samuel Galton through other family members, or to properties that were purchased by Samuel Galton jnr in the early nineteenth century and which were then transferred to his son John Howard Galton. Those in the first category include properties at Yatton, Kenn and Taunton, some of which were acquired through marriage alliances, and properties at Aller, Bridgwaterm Burnham, Burtle, Upton, Wembdon and High Ham which came to the Galton family on John Galton's marriage to Hannah Alloway. Other properties at Weston Zoyland also had connections to the Alloway family, and through them to Graffin Prankard and his daughter Sarah Dickinson (nee Prankard). Those in the second category include properties at Ashcott, Tadham Moor, Walton, Wedmore, Winscombe and Rodney Stoke. |
