TitleLetters to Susannah Abrahams
LevelSub Series
Date1749 - 1760
DescriptionThe majority of these letters are sent from Susannah's nephews and nieces, but there are also a small number from a J. Smart [Joseph] who seems to have been a friend. The content of the correspondence largely concerns Susannah's financial affairs which seem to have been managed by James Farmer until his bankruptcy in 1755. After this date, Samuel Galton appears to have taken over the responsibility for administering her finances. Wider business matters also receive a mention; Susannah seems to have had an interest in a family haberdashery business run from Bristol. Some of the correspondence also contains information about family, domestic and social matters, particularly the letters from her nieces Mary Galton and Hannah Galton.
