| Description | Correspondence contained in two letter books, consisting primarily of rough drafts of letters to contacts in the shipping business, many of which discuss individual ships in which Douglas had an interest. However, there are also a small number of drafts of letters to family members which contain information about family health, financial, domestic and social matters. The letter books also contain entries recording the dates on which Douglas wrote to various named correspondents, miscellaneous accounts which contain information about business expenditure and lists of merchandise shipped abroad. (See also MS3101/B/5 for papers relating to Archibald Douglas's business interests). |
