| Description | The majority of these letters were written to John Howard Galton when he was on tour in Europe in 1817 and 1818, but there are also several letters written to him when he was at school in Oxford and at college in Glasgow, and a smaller number written after 1818. The letters contain detailed information about family and domestic activities at Dudson house, Birmingham and about social engagements with friends of the family, and visits made to other parts of the country. They often include contributions from other family members, particularly Sophia Galton. |
