| Description | Recording of interview by Philip Donnellan of Captain Alfred Ernest Horton (AEH) of Poole, Dorset (1883-1974) on 'Sailing Ships' where he describes his experiences on large cargo sailing ships abroad.
Track 1: Duration (min/sec): 5.55 Description of track: AEH describes the technicalities of a sailing ship (rigging, masts, sails, names of the ropes); his sailing experience around the English coast equipped him for work on the sailing ships; describes the difficulties of handling heavy wet sails and discomfort of water boils on his hands
