The first, 'Theatre and Community', focused on new civic theatres in the Midlands, while 'Theatre in the Future', a follow up programme, treated points raised by 'Theatre and Community' and focused on young people and the theatre. Charles Parker produced both programmes which were broadcast on the BBC Midland Home Service in March 1965 and November 1965. 'Theatre and Community' featured actuality by six Midlands theatre directors, John Neville, Clive Perry Anthony Richardson, Frank Horsa, Peter Cheeseman and John English, as well as Ken Parrot, Clive Barker, director of the 1962 trade union festivals for Centre 42 and Albert Hall, a trade union official and member of Leicester Phoenix Theatre Trust. 'Theatre in the Future' featured actuality by a number of youth workers. |
