Tony continues from the previous reel decribing his first job as a 'nipper' on a building site in Dublin (1950s), what the work was like and giving his wages to his mother. He also speaks about his friends at the time, what they were doing for work or education and their social life. Tony talks about getting another job with the Electricity Supply Board in the mail department (when he was still 14 years old), and what the work involved. He describes his colleagues, especially one with whom he did not get along. He speaks about getting into trouble there, especially as he was not able to afford smart clothes. He speaks about the atmosphere at work and the circumstances around his leaving that job.
