| Description | Tracks 1 - 2: Actuality with 'Jim McHugh' from Edenderry, County Offaly, and Charles Parker. McHugh speaks about being abused by English people about not fighting in the war, although members of his family has been injured in it. He describes an Irish man from Tipperary, Charlie Collen, who defended him at this time, their friendship and the accidental death of Collen (1950s). Tracks 3 - 5: McHugh describes being intimidated by the city as he was raised in the countryside in Ireland. He talks about some of the differences, for example in the dances, between London and his town in Edenderry. Tracks 6 - 7: McHugh describes being afraid on the building site after Collen's death. He describes the visit to the site of Collen's family after his death, and the collection the labourers held for them which was not enough for the man to be taken to Ireland to be buried. Tracks 8 - 10: McHugh speaks about Irish men and labouring skills, and the prejudice against them by "educated" people. He describes digging trenches in Leatherhead, and commuting from London for this job. He compares the conditions in this job to the next job he had for a building firm in which he was better treated.
