DescriptionInterview with John Broadley, Scottish braille press. He continues to talk about the limited opportunities for the employment of blind people, even those with professional qualifications and his opinion that the main fault lies with the voluntary organisations who will not employ blind people in posts in blind welfare services, promoting the image of blind people as helpless. He discusses greater opportunities for blind people to get a manual job, the help provided by the government, his success in developing the braille printing works and his contacts with people working in other, related, industries. He feels he has been accepted by sighted people in industry more than he has in blind welfare circles and thinks there has been too much emphasis in blind welfare on the need for blind people to imitate the sighted and take on limiting employment (tracks 1-4).
