He talks about the difficulties for teachers working with blind children in a sighted school, teaching children to read and write braille and to type, his plans to appoint resource teachers to prepare visual equipment in tactile form and his worries that blind children who have been taught in sighted schools will not be able to find employment outside the traditional 'blind' trades. He talks about how opportunities in the professions and trades can be opened up for blind adolescents,and discusses the problems of integrating blind children into sighted society at an early age and their suffering when they do not have the opportunities they have been educated to expect and have to face prejudices. He thinks there needs to be more research into ways to enable blind adolescents to enter a wider range of trades and professions (tracks 5-10).
