DescriptionInterview with Reg Webb. He talks about his perception of the world and whether his ideas about politics and the way the world is developing and changing are affected by his lack of sight. He discusses his plans for a career after finishing his degree in social work and his determination to do something constructive. He talks about being able to understand poverty and the conditions that people are living in even though he cannot see them. He considers whether he feels cut off politically from other people and talks about the difficulty of persuading people he knows well to accept him on their terms, let alone in the wider world. He thinks that the mass media projects a poor image of people with disabilities and discusses the portrayal of blind people in plays. He goes on to talk about his own fiction writing, his friendships at Worcester College for the Blind and the jokes that he and his friends made about sighted people's reactions to them when they were out on the streets. He thinks that being blind can be amusing because of the things that people with visual impairment get sanctioned to do. He recounts the story of a friend who fell into a girl's lap on the bus, tells another story about going to Evesham with a group of friends and falling into a pond, and explains some of the tricks that he and his friends played on sighted people, playing up to the preconceptions that they had about students at the college (tracks 1-7)
