Tracks 2-6: recorded plea by Harvey Morris, a visually impaired man living in Wolverhampton, appealing to Charles Parker for a series of radio programmes on the place of people with disabilities in society. He talks about activities in the Midlands in connection with people with visual impairments, including the workshops in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall that employ people, the guide dogs centre at Leamington Spa, and the rehabilitation centre at Bridgnorth in Shropshire with the emphasis on domestic rehabilitation for blind women, and thinks there is scope for the series to have a local slant. He thinks that there is a tendency for programmes on people with disabilities to sentimentalise or sensationalise, and that interviewers invent problems that are not there when they ask questions. He discusses the need to produce a programme about practical solutions offered at these centres which would be useful to people with visual impairments and offer information to sighted people. He thinks there should also be programmes about blind peoples' achievements in employment, and in leisure activities. He describes how interviews should be carried out, and talks about the need for discussion about aspects of disability with a group of visually impaired people, or people with other disabilities
