DescriptionInterview with people in the Fountain Street area of Derry. One man talks about the importance of law and order in the community and criticises elements of the civil rights movement for acting without mandate. He does not think that the Catholic community have legitimate grievances and thinks that Bernadette Devlin's arrest was fair because she acted against the law. He thinks that people living in the Fountain area are discriminated against but that they put up with the conditions they are living in because they have only had a Tory, capitalist voice to speak for them. He goes on to discuss Northern Ireland politics in more depth, with reference to the lack of political choice for both Catholics and Protestants and the progress of the Labour movement. He talks about the activities of Eamon McCann and Eddie McAteer and discusses the question of whether Eamon McCann has Communist sympathies. Other men join the conversation to talk about the popular reaction to Eamon McCann in the Fountain area because of his policies to help the working class, whether he can be classed as a Catholic because he apparently said he did not believe in God, and his views about the RUC, on which the group disagree with McCann (tracks 1-7).
