DescriptionInterview with Kath Beadsworth. She describes the events of a dispute in a shirt factory in the Wapping Lane and thinks that the parents of youngsters on both sides should take responsibility. She goes on to refute suggestions that violence on television has an influence on young people and thinks that young people are causing civil disturbances all over the world, perhaps because they have too much money to spend. She expresses her admiration for the soldiers (tracks 1-3).

Another woman joins the conversation to talk about her experiences living in the Bishop Street area and being petrol bombed out during the previous summer because she was Protestant. A group of people speak about their fear and uncertainty about being targeted because of their religion, and the woman goes on to talk about her husband being threatened because he was working as a labourer in a Catholic area. She talks about the living conditions in her home and her willingness to accept a house elsewhere. Charles Parker talks to the group about the housing conditions and experiences of some of the Catholic people he has spoken to and one of the women talks about her reluctance to leave the Fountain Street area because of the sense of community she feels. The group discusses the new animosity between the Catholic and Protestant communities since the beginning of the civil disturbances, even between people they used to know. They give their opinions about the activities of the civil rights movement (tracks 4-7).

Kath Beadsworth talks about the practice of decorating streets, particularly on 12th August, the work of Bob Jackson, the mural painter and their memories of Catholics joining in the celebrations in the past. They explain how they identify Catholics and Protestants on the streets and talk about some of the history of sectarian tensions in Northern Ireland (tracks 8-9).
