Track 1 - 24: A brief outline of the documentary: The introduction. Inspired by the book 'Poverty: The Forgotten Englishmen' by Ken Coates and Richard Silburn. Discussion of the history of the survey and the social study group. Discussions of the deterioration of the area, of poverty in the area, of poor housing and amenities and of the council's attitude towards St Ann's and its residents. Discussions about the study group and the survey. Discussions about low wages, women's work, local industries, high rents, home repairs, damp, illness, slum landlords, rehousing and the clearance. Discussions of the pork farms factory, council, petition and complaints. Discussions of the organisation of tenants. Discussions of problem families, of 'neighbouring', of deprivation, of rehousing, of high rents and of creating new slums. Discussion of apathy, of dispiritedness, of social justice, of frustration and of the residents associations. Discussion of the social study group and their views of the residents of St Ann's.
