DescriptionPart of a news programme probably broadcast on BBC Radio consisting of comments by the black writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin about the death of George Jackson, the discrimination of black people by the legal system, and his opinion that his death was part of a conspiracy to kill him before his trial began, dictated by the system. He discusses the possible consequences of his death, compares racism and discrimination of young black people in America with discrimination against young black people in Britain, and considers the civil rights struggle in America. He goes on to discuss the history and legacy of slavery (tracks 1-4). These comments are also recorded on the tape described at MS 4000/6/1/68/16
