DescriptionInterview with unidentifed man who discusses the danger of a right wing coup led by the police, the inaction of the government, and his belief that the only solution is to arm the workers and organise the youth of the country. Another man joins the conversation to give a Marxist interpretation of recent events, the failure of the capitalist state, and makes comparisons with the situation in Bolivia, Ghana and other countries. They give their opinion about the tactics of the JVP in different areas of the country, the influence of Communist parties in other countries, particularly Russia, China and India, and the possible influence of the CIA in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in trying to provoke unrest. They go on to discuss the effects of the insurgency on the Leftist movement in the country, the government's strengthening of security forces, and the dissolution of JVP support, with followers joining other coalition parties. They discuss the educational reforms that the government is considering, the reaction on campus to the insurgency, the food shortages, the armed power of the JVP (Janata Vimukti Peramura) or People's Liberation Front, and the response of other Left parties who joined together to fight against the JVP. They talk about the social background of the majority of JVP supporters, the political gap between science students and arts students because of their different employment prospects, and the literacy rate in the country (tracks 1-17).
