Interview with Malla Sekara. He discusses the government's economic problems as a result of the insurgency and uncertainty about the future, the extent to which the country might be able to depend on foreign aid in this climate, and the problems associated with high numbers of unemployed graduates. He goes on to discuss the influence of Buddhist values of peace, tolerance, liberty and democracy in modern political culture, the particular obligations of Buddhist citizens to the state and describes Buddhist values and teachings, the equality of men and women in Buddhism and the election of the first woman prime minister in the world, Mrs Bandaranaike. He thinks that young people know more about Buddhism than the older generation because of the establishment of Buddhist schools but is puzzled by the actions of the insurgents because he sees a conflict between Leftist teaching and Buddhism. He talks about the different religious faiths and languages of the population of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), the different political parties and their ideologies, particularly the SLFP (Sri Lanka Freedom Party), and the influence of these parties amongst the Tamil population (tracks 2-6).

Interview with an unidentified man. He talks about aspects of Buddhism, discrimination against Buddhist activities in the past, and the social and educational work done by Buddhist organisations and the training of Buddhist monks. He discusses the repression of Buddhism by Portuguese, Dutch and British colonists who tried to convert the population to Christianity, and the revival of Buddhism and the Sinhalese language after Independence (tracks 7-11).
