DescriptionTracks 1 - 21:

This is a recording of Charles Parker interviewing members of the Sekhon family, Sikhs originally from the Punjab, India and now resident in the West Midlands. Experiences of arriving in England are discussed, as are those of living, working and being educated in the West Midlands. Aspects of the Sikh religion are considered throughout the recording but specifically at Track 8. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre at Amritsar is described, as is Udham Singh's reprisal and subsequent execution (Tracks 19 - 21). (Note: the reference to Udham Singh's assassination of General Dyer in 1940 should relate to that of Sir Michael O'Dwyer). The Udham Singh Memorial Sports Tournament in the West Midlands is discussed and the sport of Kabadi is described (Track 21).
