Tracks 4 - 13: Actuality with Kamilinder Kaur, a Punjabi Sikh Indian woman and mother living in Handsworth, Birmingham and Charles Parker. Track 4 begins extremly quietly but resumes a normal volume approximately a minute in. The pitch on this recording is erratic. Mrs Kaur speaks about her background in India, and why she left to come to Britain, with reference to her academic qualifications. She talks about the teaching methods in Britain in comparison with teaching methods in India. She speaks about the extra classes run by the local gurdwara in Indian and Sikh culture and history. Mrs Kaur speaks about the other parents of different ethnic backgrounds that she meets at her children's nursery. Mrs Kaur discusses whether there is a need for teaching about Indian history in mainstream schools. She talks about wanting her children to be obedient and not to be more influenced by Western society values. She talks about her hopes for her children's future, with reference to the relative worth of an English education in India.
