This recording continues Charles Parker's interviews of Phil Belcher and Arthur Pullen in Redditch (Tracks 1 - 13). Track 1 contains a discussion about comprehensive education and County Council attitudes to this. The discussion then moves on to consider aspects of socialism and NUPE's role in resisting public spending cutbacks. The union's support for the Redditch Action Committee is mentioned (Track 1). The consquences of the media's demonisation of 'politics' as a legitimate activity are discussed and reference is made to the NUPE publication 'Fightback' which calls for investmetn in the public sector (Track 2). 'Active socialism' is considers (Tracks 4 - 6) and an assessment of the chances of socialist electoral success is given (Track 6). Tracks 7 - 8 conisder the effectiveness of NUPE's leadership and its officers. The Redditch branch of NUPE is considered (Tracks 9 -10). Tracks 11 - 13 identify issues facing the union in motivating members.
Track 14 is an unrelated recording of a discussion (by unidentified people) about Unity Theatre (a militant theatre in London) and the nature of the workers' theatre movement.
