Charles Parker continues his interview with Geraldine Woodhouse and John Shaw. The capability of residents' groups to achieve major change is considered and political consciousness is discussed (Tracks 1 - 2). Parker and Shaw debate the need for a written constitution in the U.K. (Tracks 3 - 4).

Tensions within the local community are discussed, with residents' attitudes to travelling people, the practice of 'gypsy bashing' and the existence of racism being considered (Tracks 3 - 6). Social tensions are referred to, and an example of domestic abuse is considered (Tracks 8 - 9).

Aspects of the Van Leer project are discussed. Reference is made to co-operation received from Hamstead Hall and Handsworth New Road schools (Track 7). Van Leer's work at Tindal School and Trinity House is mentioned (Track 10) and the challenges of co-ordinating headteachers of the primary and nursey aspects of Benson Road are considered (Tracks 10 - 11). The need for and challenges of parental and community involvement in school activities are discussed (Tracks 11 -13). Benson Road Mothers' Group receives praise for its intervention with a specific family case (Track 13).

Track 14 records Parker's query about the difference in nursery provision in the area. Reference is made to differences between Bacchus Road Nursery Centre (Social Services) and James Watt Nursery Class (Education).

Reference is made to 'Clubland' on the Soho Road, Handsworth (Track 8).
