Tracks 1 - 11 are a continuation of the interview with Joan Rettel. Tracks 12 - 13 are recordings of an interview with Bob Marriott of NUPE.

Joan describes her career in the health service between 1935 and 1974 (Tracks 4 - 5). She also gives details of the Socialist Medical Association (Tracks 10 - 11). David Perris and John Harrison are recommended as good contacts for Banner to liaise with (tracks 1 & 9 -10). (Perris is Chairman of West Midlands Regional Health Authority and Harrison is a consultant in geriatric services at Selly Oak Hospital.)

Joan discusses private practice within and outside the NHS (Tracks 4 - 8). BUPA is mentioned. She also considers geriatric provision (Tracks 3 & 9 - 10). Comparisons are made between the NHS and health services in the EEC, China and the Soviet Union (Tracks 4 & 10). The importance of occupational health services is considered (Track 11).

The role of cottage hospitals is discussed (Track 2). Campaigns to keep Romsley Hill and Saint Wulstan's Hospitals open are considered (Track 1). Other hospitals referred to include Birmingham Accident Hospital (Track 1) and the General Hospital (Tracks 6 - 7).

Bob Marriott is interviewed on Tracks 12 - 13. He is a NUPE shop steward at the Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital where he works as a porter. Bob outlines the nature of portering duties and describes both the Coventry and Warwickshire and the Walsgrave Hospitals. Problems for patients and staff at the former hospital are discussed.
