Ewan MacColl discusses the history of theatre groups and education programmes that he has been involved with, the role of theatre in political struggles, with reference to Soviet theatre and the history of class struggle. Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger go on to talk about how to generate interest in a touring theatre group and towards the end of the tape begin to talk about their experiences of working with Charles Parker including working together gathering actuality for 'Singing the Fishing' in Banffshire, visiting the Stewart family and their differences of opinion because of his attitudes towards working people, his view that Charles Parker was not a great producer but a very good editor, and his belief that Charles Parker's greatest achievement was to reinvent himself. He also talks about his opinion that the production of 'Song of a Road' was a 'botch'.
