| Title | Letter from Elizabeth Taylor to John and Mary Jane Taylor |
| Level | Item |
| Date | 19 October 1873 |
| Description | Elizabeth refers to arrangements for the Christmas holidays when her mother, elder sister Margaret (Pearlie) and younger sister Janet were coming to visit her in Germany. She attempts to persuade her father to accompany them. Elizabeth writes that Miss Trinks had decided to give up the day school which Elizabeth describes as 'a set of nasty common children' that came for classes at the school. She adds that the girls were to have singing lessons after the holidays and notes that it was 'dreadfully cold' in Saxe-Meiningen.
Although the year isn't given in the date of this letter, it is possible to date the letter as 1873 given that Elizabeth's elder sister Margaret had left school in Saxe-Meiningen by this time. References to forthcoming dates in November towards the conclusion of the letter make it possible to date the letter as October 1873. |
