TitleLetter from Janet Taylor and Margaret (Pearlie) Taylor to Elizabeth (Elsie)Taylor
LevelItem
Date[n.d. 1873]
DescriptionIn this letter Janet describes a stay in Kelvedon with her elder sister Margaret (Pearlie). She writes that they had visited a flour mill, fed chickens and picked blackberries. Janet also describes the view from her window over a busy yard where wagons and carts were loaded. Margaret continues the letter remarking that the place where the girls were staying had no table napkins. She comments on forthcoming Monthly Meeting and a tea for 'all the teetotallers & Band of Hope children'. Both Janet and Margaret remark on the people with whom they were staying in Kelvedon, Mr. and Mrs. Docura. Margaret concludes her letter asking Elizabeth to bring certain things with her when she returned home from Germany, adding that she was hoping to learn to row on the Docura's boat.

Although the date of the letter is not stated, given that Margaret Taylor contributed to the letter it is probable that it was written during 1873-1874 when Elizabeth Taylor continued to attend school in Saxe-Meiningen alone following her sister Margaret's return to England in autumn 1873.
