| Description | This exercise book belonged to Elizabeth Taylor in the final months of her time at school in Saxe-Meiningen. The book contains pages written in German, French and English and includes a table of dates relating to the English, French and German monarchies on the reverse of the front cover. This suggests that the book may have been used by Elizabeth Taylor in her history lessons.
A number of loose letters are enclosed in the front of the book including a programme for entertainment given by the 'Singing and Recitation Classes of the Friends' First Day School' on 24th April 1874. The programme reveals that Elizabeth Taylor sang at this concert. The book also contains a piece of paper with small artefacts attached to it including a piece of Dr. Martin Luther's bed which Elizabeth Taylor had collected whilst visiting Coburg Fortress in Germany. |
