DescriptionThis letter was sent to Elizabeth Taylor whilst she was visiting some cousins with her elder sister Margaret. In this letter Mary Jane Taylor remarks on the improvement in Elizabeth's handwriting and comments on a basket of things which she had recently sent to her daughter. Mary Jane Taylor also describes recent family activities including an amusing account of the children's bath time. She also remarks on a visit to Elizabeth's grandmother and describes making thirty one jars of red gooseberry jam. In addition, the letter includes remarks about Quaker Meeting and a family game of croquet. Mary Jane Taylor concludes her letter with an account of her distressing experiences leaving Elizabeth at the train station, noting that a young relative had injured herself whilst playing in the children's 'play-rooms' at home.
