TitleLetter from Gertrude Goodall Cash to Elizabeth Taylor
LevelItem
Date05 February 1874
DescriptionElizabeth Taylor's cousin Gertrude (Gertie) Goodall Cash was the daughter of Elizabeth's uncle Frederick Goodall Cash and her aunt Martha who lived in Gloucester. Elizabeth had grown close to her cousins in the Goodall Cash family after living with them for a short period when she was nine years old following the birth of her younger sister Annie Frances. In 1883 Gertrude's youngest sister Mabel Goodall Cash married John Henry Barlow who later became the Secretary of the Bournville Village Trust, appointed by Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's husband George Cadbury.

Gertrude Goodall Cash wrote this letter to Elizabeth Taylor whilst Elizabeth was attending school in Saxe-Meiningen. Gertrude writes that she was getting along well at school in England and remarks on news she had heard about Elizabeth in Germany. She also comments on the cold weather and school work.
